JORDAN
POLLACK Ph.D., Founder
Jordan
is well-known for innovation in computer science and complex
systems, and is on the faculty at Brandeis University, where
he directs the DEMO laboratory. He
holds a Ph.D in Computer Science from University of Illinois.
He has broad experience in the computer industry and is an expert
on intellectual property and game theoretic aspects of nonequilibrium
business phenomena. As chief scientist for Abuzz technologies
which was acquired by the NY TImes, he authored four patents
for the design of the adaptive filter and the email based protocol
for the "Beehive" knowledge management product. Jordan
has over 100 publications, and has managed over $2M in federal
grants. He was named one of MIT Technology Review's "TR
10"
in January 2001 for work on robotics.
JEREMY
GILBERT, Chief Software Architect
Jeremy
graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University Computer Science
Department in 1998. He has been developing software systems since
youth, and served as a Unix administrator and webmaster for the
Brandeis CS department. After Brandeis, he spent two years leading
teams at Genuity (formerly GTE Internetworking), building and
deploying large scale secure electronic commerce systems for
GTE's Fortune 500 clients.
VADIM
YASINOVSKY, Director
Vadim
founded Clear Software, maker of an innovative set of graphical
tools which was acquired by SPSS. He has been involved in the
high-tech community for 20 years and is very active in annual
industry conferences. Besides THINMAIL, Vadim is involved with
other startups including Furniturefan.
JEFFREY
M. STIBEL, Director
Jeff is
a Vice President of United Online, a leading provider
of Internet access, Stibel's primary responsibilities at UOL
include online advertising, high-volume sales, and targeted marketing
solutions. Stibel was Founder, Chairman and CEO of Simpli.com,
Inc., a targeted marketing and infrastructure company, which
was acquired by NetZero, which together with Juno, comprise UOL.
Stibel previously worked at GTE Corporation (Verizon) on the
Superpages project. He has also worked in mergers and acquisitions
(Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP) and for Greenfield
Consulting Group. Stibel also serves on the Board of Directors
for SpringBee, Inc. and Worldwide MediaWorks.
ABBOT
L. GILMAN, Advisor
Abbot L. Gilman is currently
a private investor and advisor to emerging technology companies
and venture funds. Mr. Gilman was a Founder, Director and Chief
Operating Officer of Broadband Access Systems, Inc., a private
company that was acquired by ADC Telecommunications, Inc. in
September, 2000. Prior to co-founding BAS, Mr. Gilman was a Principal
and Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Applied Network
Technology, Inc., which was acquired by FORE Systems in May of
1995. Mr. Gilman has also been involved in two other companies,
still private. Following the acquisition at FORE Systems, as
Director of Marketing, he successfully launched Fore's Ethernet
Switch. Mr. Gilman spent 17 years at Digital Equipment Corporation.
CARL
J. YANKOWSKI, Advisor
Mr. Yankowski was CEO of Palm
from 1999 to 2001, engineering Palm's IPO as it spun off from
3Com, and more than doubling the company's awareness and revenue.
The Palm PDA is one of the most successful business products
in use today. As President and COO of all of Sony's U.S. electronics
businesses from 1993 to 1998, Mr. Yankowski grew the division
by $4 billion, surpassing Sony Japan. He launched CDMA digital
phones in a joint venture with Qualcomm, the VAIO PC line, Digital
Satellite Systems, WebTV, lithium ion batteries, and the company's
digital cameras and camcorders. He has also held high-level management
positions at Reebok, Polaroid Corporation, Cadbury Schweppes,
General Electric, Pepsico, and Memorex.
DAVID
F. DINES, Advisor
David
brings significant telecommunications, marketing, analysis and
operations experience to Thinmail. He has been in high tech for
over 17 years with tours at both GTE and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Dines has been the industry analyst for networking, VoIP and
call center technology at the Aberdeen Group, and Vice President
at the Faneuil Group, a direct marketing/target marketing company,
where he managed a division. He has also been Vice President
of Marketing at Lynk, and director of marketing at Tundo (both
Voice-Over-IP startups). He holds degrees from Harvard and Cornell.
