and can forward to someone else or to GET@thinmail.com.    TOP
            How do
            I read WORD attachments?
Simply mail a file or one of
our links to Text@thinmail.com to get the text mailed
            back.   TOP
            How do I use
            email to FAX?
Simply mail a file or one of
our links to fax@thinmail.com with a 10digit number as
subject. Equivalently, you can store common numbers in your addressbook
as 1234567890@thinfax.com. You can also fax from the website,
by checking the file, and pressing the "fax" button.
            TOP
            How do I
            use email to PHONE?
Simply mail a message, or attach
a TXT, HTML, DOC, WAV (8k), or MP3, file or thinmail link to
Phone@thinmail.com with a 10digit number as subject. Equivalently,
you can store common numbers in your addressbook or send to many
people at once by using the form 1234567890@thinphone.com.
            TOP
            How do
I sign up for THINMAIL with multiple email addresses?
You can add as many other email
identities as you like, though each will be validated. All of
your email accounts will be able to access the files and to send
mail "as if" another. Under "manage my account",
click on "add new identity".   TOP
            How can
THINMAIL cover up my pager or cellphone address?
            When anyone@any.com sends mail
(or you forward mail) to your USERID@THINMAIL.NET address, we
can forward it to your device from anyone@any.com.ml.to. When
you reply "Thru thinmal", we change your from address
to USERID@THINMAIL.NET (or any other validaddress you choose)
so they never get your private number.   TOP
            How do I
            store a file at THINMAIL?
Simply email the file to yourself
or someone else through THINMAIL (with their THINMAIL account,
or by adding ".ml.to" to their address), and it will
be stored. Your outgoing files can be resent without uploading
            again.   TOP
            How do
I retrieve a file from THINMAIL?
If you have the link, just click
on it to be brought to a view of the file or download it (depending
on your receiving options). You can download, fax, forward it
etc. The first access doesn't require a password, but subsequent
accesses do.You can also send the link to "get@thinmail.com"
If you lost the link, you can
always login to the website, and click on the "download"
button, which looks like a file folder, to download any file
you have send or received via THINMAIL. You can
also use the list command.   TOP
            How
do I change my address on outgoing mail?
            When you send mail "through
Thinmail" (by adding .ml.to to an email address) our software
can replace the FROM address with another address of your choice
specified in the REPLY-TO field. If using a webmail or pager,
you can type !!r address in the body of a message.
Every identity can have a "default"
masquerade, which you set in the "manage identities",
"receiving options"page, so you don't need to think
about it. Another receiving option will automatically add
".ml.to" to the address of the sender, so when you
reply, your reply goes through Thinmail to pick up your masquerade
and let you forward files.  TOP
            How do
I change where USERID@THINMAIL.NET forwards to?
            Login, click on "manage
my profile", then "manage identities". The userid@thinmail.net
identity will have a "receive as" column, which you
can change to any of your registered email addresses.   TOP
            How do I
send a file as a link?
            From your desktop or webmail,
just attach a file, and send it via THINMAIL, either to another
of our members, or by adding ".ml.to" to any email address, like "joe@aol.com.ml.to". This
works great for polite mailing of rich content.  TOP
            How do
            I receive a file as a link?
            Your USERID@THINMAIL.NET address
will automatically forward to another of your email addresses
with links instead of attachments. And any of your registered
addresses (with .ml.to) will also receive attachments as links.
You can use this address for joining mailing lists (since you
can block any address from getting through), for receiving bulky
items like business proposals, resumes, images, or multimedia
files or forwarding to a two-way pager or wireless handheld or
            pda.   TOP
            Can I
            share THINMAIL links with others?
We do not publish the contents
            of your email! Thinmail's
links are your private web pages, and need your password
the second time they are accessed. You can share the link among
all your own validated email addresses, but you do not want to
give these links out to friends, or they will require your login
            and password.   TOP
To share a file you have stored
with us, forward the link to others only through THINMAIL,
so we can create a new private page for the recipient.    TOP
            I lost a
link, how do I get it back?
            Use the "list@thinmail.com"
command to list your files. The subject should be the name of
the file, or a wildcard expression like "*.doc" for
document files, for "new*" for anything beginning with
"new". You can then forward these links to others and
            to fax machines.   TOP
            I still
            can't find the file!
Every file you send and receive
via THINMAIL gets an expiration date. These defaults are set
in your "Global Preferences". It is possible that the
file simply expired. You can manage expirations individually
or in bulk using the KEEP@thinmail.com command by email, or from
            your workspace.   TOP
            Can I do
            Bulk Mail using Thinmail?
We are shortly setting up mailing
lists, so you can send files or alerts to a lot of people using
a single message. For now, once you upload the file and have
the URL (by sending it to yourself or using the LIST
command), you can THINMAIL it to anyone else by including the
URL in the body of the message and sending it via THINMAIL, by
adding ".ml.to" to their email address. Using an editor
or spreadsheet, you can construct a list of desired addresses,
including peoples email, phones, or faxes, and then paste them
            into your email client.   TOP
            What is ML.TO?
            We acquired this short domain
name (mnemonic for "Mail.to", without the AI). Your
mail does not travel to the famous South Pacific Island of Tonga,
but merely to our servers in San Antonio, TX.   TOP
            Whats
            a Byteyear?
            Its different, but its really
            not scary.
We charge you $2.50 to store
a million bytes for a year (a megabyteyear). Thats about 2/3
cent a day for a megabyte. Even if someone sends you a 10M file,
you can download it a day later and delete it, it will cost you
about 7 cents. If a million byte years is $2.50, then each BYTEYEAR
is only 1/4000th of a penny. Our unique micropayment system lets
you use Thinmail as little or as much as you'd like, without
having to think about it.   TOP
            How much
            does Thinmail Cost?
            Group rates are available to
organizations starting at $10/pp/month with shared resources.
            For individuals, our basic charge
is $1.50/month, deducted from your account. All email forwarding
systems now charge, in order to handle the data transfer. Most
limit the size of your attachments, or the size of your storage.
In order to provide an unlimited service, we charge you $2.50
to store a million bytes for a year (a million Byteyears). Thats
about 2/3 cent a day per megabyte.
We charge 25c for a Thinphone
call. We charge 75c for a Thinfax message or file of up to 10
pages. We have recently introduced the more basic Thinphone service,
with no monthly fee, which only lets you send email to telephones
and fax machines, and does not entitle you to transfer files
            or forward email.  TOP
            Why am
            I getting nasty messages?
Thinmail has never been a "free"
service. We offered a limited free trial by setting up your account
with a promotional credit for the service. When your balance
falls below $2, an automatic mail system sends you a reminder
            to pay.   TOP
            What if
I don't want to use a credit card?
            We are concerned with security
as well and do not even store your credit card or automatically
charge it. We offer a rechargable, REFUNDABLE, system which works
like a phone card. You deposit money into your account, which
is then debited for use. If you don't want to use a credit card,
you can send a check or money order to Thinmail, PO Box 95,
Wayland, MA 01778, noting your email address or login name
on the check. Please alert thinmail@gmail.com if you send
a payment or have any other billing issues.  TOP
            How do
            I cancel?
            Simply send email to Cancel@thinmail.com.
If your account has a positive balance, we will subtract any
promotional amounts we added to your account, and a $3 handling
fee, and mail a check within a few business days.   TOP
